The role
As a Senior Continental Shift Engineer, you’ll manage the engineering maintenance engineers and support the maintenance team leader to provide shift support aligned with departmental objectives. Your responsibilities include reactive, predictive, and planned maintenance across all sites.
This role requires working across our logistics sites, primarily at Shaw, with coverage at sister sites as needed.
Shift pattern: You’ll work an average of 42 hours per week on a Continental shift pattern.

What will you do as a Senior Continental Shift Engineer?
* Assist the Team Leader to ensure team members are trained and certified, complying with health & safety requirements
* Complete all daily planned and routine work, attend to breakdowns promptly, minimizing downtime and business disruption
* Manage spares inventory in collaboration with the Team Leader, recording usage and ordering as needed
* Lead, motivate, and discipline the team to meet departmental KPIs and responsibilities
* Maintain a hands-on approach to assist with tasks and cover staff shortages when necessary
* Promote continuous improvement and safety initiatives, ensuring SOPs are written and followed for standard activities
* Provide technical and practical support as needed
* Ensure compliance with all H&S regulations and safe systems of work
* Issue and manage permits to work in the absence of the Team Leader
* Coordinate external contracts, liaising with procurement and contractors to support specialist activities
Skills and experience required
* Qualified engineering professional with understanding of automated equipment service requirements
* Extensive experience with automated equipment and managing teams or contractors
* Full Engineering Apprenticeship and proven ability to lead engineering teams towards departmental goals
