Are you a proactive and detail–driven Facilities Manager looking to make a real impact in the public sector?
An ambitious and forward–thinking local authority is seeking a talented Facilities Manager to join their dynamic Property and Commercial Services team. You will play a key role in ensuring the safety, efficiency, and compliance of a diverse property portfolio supporting both planned and reactive maintenance works while contributing to long–term asset strategies.
About the Role
In this varied and hands–on position, you ll be responsible for:
* Overseeing planned preventative and reactive maintenance works across mechanical and electrical services.
* Monitoring compliance with statutory servicing and inspection deadlines.
* Commissioning and supervising contractors to deliver remedial and cyclical maintenance work.
* Managing asbestos records, legionella assessments, energy contracts, and utility usage.
* Providing expert advice on building services, health & safety, and compliance matters.
* Leading on condition surveys and updating the asset management database.
* Supporting financial planning and budget analysis for property works programmes.
* Deputising for the Property Compliance and Maintenance Manager when required.
What We re Looking For
Essential Skills & Experience:
* Strong technical knowledge of mechanical and electrical building services.
* Up–to–date understanding of building compliance legislation, including H&S, asbestos, legionella, CDM and the Building Safety Act.
* Experience in managing maintenance contractors and performance monitoring.
* Ability to write specifications, issue permits, and coordinate works from end to end.
* Confident user of MS Outlook, Excel, and Word.
* Excellent communication and problem–solving skills.
Desirable:
* Project management experience.
* Experience in supervising or mentoring staff.
* Scheduling and budget management.
Qualifications:
* Higher–level qualification in Engineering or Building Services (or equivalent).
* Health and Safety qualifications.
