The Operations Manager is a key member of the DVSA Corporate Senior Leadership Team, responsible for the national delivery of operational services to meet customer expectations. Joining our department offers many benefits, including:

The post holder will lead operational delivery teams of 250-300 staff through a team of supporting managers. They are responsible for ensuring high-quality, efficient service delivery, maintaining effective operational processes, and ensuring staff compliance with technical and quality standards. This role directly impacts road safety outcomes and involves developing business improvements, managing performance, and fostering talent development. The Operations Manager will also liaise with policy colleagues to support business improvements and ensure standards are met.

Key responsibilities include:

1. Providing leadership and clear guidance to staff to support objective delivery, maintaining integrity and upholding the reputation of the agency and Civil Service.
2. Leading vehicle testing operations across a network, ensuring consistent, high-quality service.
3. Ensuring network performance against standards, quality expectations, and targets.
4. Maintaining effective communication with staff and management teams.
5. Developing operational plans to deliver value-for-money services.
6. Driving improvements based on QA and audits, promoting best practices and continuous improvement.
7. Collaborating with strategic partners to develop business plans responsive to changing priorities.
8. Acting as a liaison for specific services, providing operational expertise on legislation and improvements.
9. Coordinating with internal departments to meet customer needs and communicate requirements effectively.
