Job Title: Electrical Field Engineer Contract Type: 3-month rolling contract Location: UK-wide (Northern, Central, and Southern regions) Travel: Required; expenses covered - must have full UK driving license and access to own vehicle SC Clearance Required Role Overview An opportunity has arisen for an SC Cleared Design Engineer to support bespoke engineering design and surveying activities across the UK transmission environment. This role is heavily focused on transmission technologies and design delivery, combining on-site surveying with remote-based design work. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in complex infrastructure environments such as oil & gas, rail, or transmission networks, and will be comfortable working with defined technical standards, drawings, and schematics to support the full design lifecycle. Key Responsibilities Undertake on-site surveys (typically 23 days at a time ) to gather technical information and validate design requirements. Carry out design activities on site where required, alongside survey work. Produce and develop bespoke system designs, ensuring accuracy and compliance with required standards. Read, interpret, and create technical drawings and schematics in line with project requirements. Follow the end-to-end design process, from survey through to final design outputs. Apply knowledge of transmission technologies, including SDH, PDH, and Ethernet networks. Work independently both on site and remotely, managing workloads effectively. Complete the majority of design work remotely from home following site activities. Key Skills & Experience SC Cleared Strong Experience within transmission, oil & gas, rail, or similar regulated infrastructure environments. Proven understanding of SDH, PDH, and Ethernet transmission systems. Experience working with bespoke engineering systems rather than off-the-shelf solutions. Ability to interpret and create technical drawings and schematics, with a solid understanding of the standards governing them. In-depth knowledge of technical and design standards Strong understanding of the engineering design process, from survey through to final output.
