Job Overview This post is fixed term / secondment until 09.04.2027 due to the meets of the service. If you are interested in applying for the secondment position, you must obtain permission from your current line manager prior to applying for this post. This is an exciting opportunity for a forward thinking physiotherapist interested in developing their paediatric and community adult learning disability skills and supporting young people through transition from paediatric to adult services. You will work in a supportive environment to acquire and develop knowledge and skills related to treating children and young people with disabilities in the community/school environment and supporting their transition into adult services. A willingness and desire to learn is essential for this post. You will be supported in this by senior members of the team/clinical specialist. You would also be supported to attend external training. The postholder will mainly hold a Wrexham caseload but may be requested to support colleagues across into Flintshire as required. Main duties of the job With support from senior colleagues you would manage your own caseload, in the community – predominantly a Wrexham caseload covering schools, homes, day centres and sport centres but may also be required to provide cover some community work in Flintshire. As part of this role you will work for one day per week on supporting children and young people up to the age of 25 year who have a learning disability during their transition to the Community Adult Learning Disability team. You would be expected to contribute to the supervision of support staff and students. You will also contribute and participate as a member of the wider multidisciplinary/joint agency teams supporting children and young people with disabilities. As part of the role you will be expected to participate in 7 day working where indicated and respiratory on-call. Training will be available if required. The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply. Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities To provide a high standard physiotherapy service in a static position with BCUHB. To carry a patient caseload including those with physical and psychological problems in area of speciality; some of whom may have a level of complexity; team leader; clinical specialist or advanced practitioner available for clinical support. To assess and treat patients using specialist clinical reasoning skills. To provide a diagnosis and develop and deliver an individualised treatment programme. To undertake all aspects of clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner. Person specification Qualifications Essential criteria Degree or equivalent in Physiotherapy HCPC registration Evidence of CPD in Physiotherapy in the form of a detailed personal development portfolio. Postgraduate training courses Desirable criteria Membership of appropriate professional post-graduate training body Relevant Special/Clinical interest group membership Clinical educators course Experience Essential criteria Significant Post Registration Experience Evidence of core rotations Desirable criteria Experience of contribution to CNG or working parties. Experience in the relevant speciality Experience of working in an NHS environment as physiotherapist and MDT/ multi-agency working where relevant Skills Essential criteria Excellent clinical reasoning skills in physiotherapy Ability to work autonomously within clinical area Effective communication skills Able to lead and participate in team working and training Able to be self-motivated Excellent verbal & written skills Able to present information in a clear and logical manner Good presentation skills Proven organisational skills including prioritisation and delegation Able to lead and motivate others within the team Able to manually handle loads, including therapeutic handling, throughout most of the day Competency in report writing Ability to comprehend and work in accordance with the health board's Data Protection, Equal Opportunities and Health and Safety policies, in order to meet the differing needs of patients Knowledge and skills of risk assessment Desirable criteria Actively involved in research and contribution to evidence-based practice Able to run courses-internal/external Good teaching and supervisory skills Ability to create presentations Research skills Coaching skills PDR training Knowledge Essential Criteria Good knowledge of complex conditions Advanced knowledge of anatomy and physiology underlying complex pathology Good working knowledge of all areas of clinical governance including quality, audit and risk management. Understanding of the legal responsibilities of the profession Good understanding of the need to collect statistics and experience of their use Broad understanding of BCU policies and procedures Disability awareness. Personal Qualities Essential Criteria Ability to comply with the health board’s Manual Handling Guidelines Able to work at intense levels of concentration during most of the working day Able to meet the 7 day job planning and delivery requirements of the post Able to work within a stressful and unpredictable environment Able to carry out moderate to intense physical effort throughout the working day and carry out concurrent activities Able to meet the travel requirements of the post Desirable criteria Welsh speaking
