Salary range: £77,264 – £90,186 p.a. inc. London weighting

Contract: Permanent

Hours of work: 36 hours per week

Location: Civic centre and other locations from time to time

The Post

We are inviting applications for the role of Head of Service – Quality & Improvement, a senior leadership post responsible for driving excellence in social care practice, quality assurance, workforce development, data & insight, transformation, and regulatory readiness across Adult Social Care.


This Role Will

* Provide strategic leadership for quality assurance, improvement, compliance and governance across ASC.
* Lead the data, insight, workforce development, CQC Assurance, co‑production and transformation functions.
* Ensure ASC maintains robust quality frameworks, strong audit activity, and readiness for inspection.
* Translate legislation and policy into effective practice, supporting senior managers.
* Drive cultural and behavioural change, embedding consistent, strengths‑based practice.
* Guide major programs including transformation, savings delivery and workforce development.


The Person

We are seeking a confident, knowledgeable and values‑driven leader who brings depth, insight and strategic clarity.

The successful candidate will have strong strategic leadership and improvement capability, excellent analytical thinking and problem‑solving and strong influencing, negotiating, and partnership skills. You will also be committed to continuous improvement and innovation and have a collaborative, inclusive leadership style aligned with Brent values.

You will have senior leadership experience in Adult Social Care, health or complex system, and leading in quality assurance, improvement, governance or regulatory functions. You will have experience in managing organisational, cultural and service redesign, be skilled in interpreting complex data and developing evidence‑based actions and a proven track record delivering high‑quality, customer‑focused services.

An extensive knowledge of the Care Act, MCA, HRA, CQC regulations and understanding of Social Work and Occupational Therapy practice and workforce development is essential.
