Band 7 Occupational Therapist - Stroke and Neurology Inpatients

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and passionate Band 7 Occupational Therapist to join a busy and vital therapy team at Good Hope Hospital. The post would be suited to an experienced occupational therapist with established experience in stroke and neurology care, with strong clinical, leadership, and organisational skills. The role will offer autonomy, variety and development opportunities for leadership, learning and clinical skills.
Main duties of the job
To be responsible for leading and managing the stroke and neurology therapy caseload, alongside the Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist. Provide clinical excellence and intervention in the day to day running of the service, ensuring that all patients are given appropriate and effective therapy treatment across all wards. Join a well-established and respected team and have opportunities to develop the OT service in the acute setting. Contribute to a weekend service as part of the role.
The right candidate will be flexible regarding working pattern and will be offered a permanent role following a trust standard probationary period. We welcome conversations prior to application.

Qualifications
* Current registration with Health and Care Professions Council, OT register.
* Occupational Therapy degree qualification or equivalent, and significant NHS post graduate experience.
* Documented evidence of Continued Professional Development of relevant specialist knowledge and skills.
* Good standard of general education including GCSE maths and English grade C and above.
* Evidence of leadership training.
* Membership of a professional special interest group or national/regional network (RCOT specialist section neurological practice).
* Recent post graduate training relevant to clinical speciality.
Experience
* Understanding of organisational structure of the NHS and Social Care.
* Demonstrated ability to provide OT professional/clinical leadership.
* Significant experience of working in an acute hospital setting with neurological and stroke experience.
* Experience of working within an acute OT team and participating in service development.
* Experience of supporting and supervision of junior therapists, student occupational therapists and assistants.
* Specialist knowledge across a range of occupational therapy practices, routine and non-routine, requiring relevant specialist knowledge in the field of stroke and neurology.
* Understanding of current legislation and application to Occupational Therapy and setting.

* Demonstrate enthusiasm and an interest in developing expertise within Stroke & neurology.
* Demonstrate a professional attitude.
* Ability to cope with moving/manoeuvring patients/equipment on a daily basis.
* Ability to frequently concentrate on patient assessments and treatments.
* Ability to cope with occasional exposure to distressing/emotional situations.
* Driving licence and car owner.
