Department The Directorate of Estates is responsible for ‘providing outstanding work, study, research facilities, and facilities to enhance the student experience, on campus and online’. This role is part of the Estates Development team within Estates. Estates Development has the responsibility for delivering construction, infrastructure and other projects in line with the University’s Vision while protecting the overall campus masterplan. This role is part of the Estates Development team, and will report to the Senior Project Manager. Main purpose of the role The Project Manager will manage a diverse range of construction related projects that support the University’s Integrated Infrastructure Plan. The role will have responsibility for ensuring the quality of design for buildings and landscaping is compliant with the Integrated Infrastructure Plan design briefs, whilst ensuring strategic thought is given to long-term planning and design of the University’s estate. Subsequent projects will vary from complex refurbishment projects through to major redevelopment and new build schemes. The role will be a part of the delivery of a campus rationalisation initiative. This project is of strategic importance to relocate key services from outdated facilities and close/demolish the buildings to improve campus-wide efficiencies. Significant, relevant construction industry experience of working in a Project Manager role across refurbishment and new build projects. Under the direction of the Senior Project Manager lead strategic construction and infrastructure projects on behalf of the Directorate. Take operational responsibility for the effective delivery of capital projects from inception to completion and occupation. Develop specific areas of the specifications and design, intended to inform contractors of development standards and requirements of the University of York. Due to the nature of the role it is anticipated that the successful candidate will need to be on campus for a minimum of three days per week.
