The Role
As Dispensing Optician, you'll play a key part in the patient journey, acting as the vital link between the consulting room and the dispensing process. You'll provide expert advice, deliver a premium experience, and ensure every patient leaves with the best possible solution for their lifestyle and visual needs.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver outstanding customer service with a warm, professional approach
* Support the three-way handover between the Optometrist and patient
* Guide patients through frame and lens selection with confidence
* Take accurate measurements, including the use of digital dispensing tools where required
* Ensure orders are processed smoothly and liaise with suppliers when needed
* Carry out quality checks, fittings, and adjustments to ensure comfort and accuracy
* Complete administration and clinical record keeping to a high standard, ensuring GDPR compliance
* Handle transactions accurately and in line with practice procedures
* Support and supervise Dispensing Assistants, providing training where appropriate
* Assist with minor repairs to spectacles and hearing devices
* Resolve patient queries professionally, escalating where necessary
* Maintain excellent standards of presentation in both personal appearance and practice environment
* Keep up to date with products, clinical techniques, CPD, and GOC requirements
Requirements
* Previous experience within an optical dispensing environment
* Level 6 Diploma in Ophthalmic Dispensing (or equivalent)
* GOC registration
* Strong communication skills with a patient-first mindset
* Confident using IT systems with strong organisational skills
* Positive, adaptable, and motivated to develop within a progressive independent practice
