This is an exciting opportunity for a Sustainability Manager to take a leading role in driving sustainability strategy across a diverse portfolio of projects.
The Role
As Sustainability Manager, you will be responsible for leading and implementing sustainability and ESG initiatives across multiple construction projects.
You will play a key role in embedding sustainable practices across the full project lifecycle — from design and procurement through to delivery — ensuring compliance, innovation, and measurable environmental performance.
This is a strategic and hands‑on role, requiring the ability to balance sustainability objectives with commercial and programme demands while working closely with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development and delivery of sustainability strategies across UK projects
- Set, monitor, and report on measurable sustainability and ESG targets
- Integrate sustainability into design, procurement, and construction phases
- Provide technical guidance on environmental standards and certifications (e.g. BREEAM, LEED, WELL)
- Review sustainability plans, environmental assessments, and project performance
- Engage with clients, consultants, and supply chain partners to align sustainability goals
- Ensure compliance with environmental legislation and internal management systems (including ISO14001)
- Collect and analyse sustainability data to support reporting and continuous improvement
- Promote innovative construction methods, materials, and technologies
- Support and develop sustainability capability across project teams
About You
- Degree qualified in Sustainability, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related discipline
- 5+ years’ experience in sustainability within the construction or built environment sector
- Strong knowledge of environmental regulations, policy, and ESG frameworks
- Experience with sustainability certifications such as BREEAM, LEED, or similar
- Understanding of whole-life carbon, energy strategies, and environmental impact assessments
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities
- Experience contributing to or leading sustainability initiatives in a fast-paced environment
- Knowledge of LCA / LCC methodologies
- Experience leading or mentoring sustainability professionals
