Application Engineer, Cambridge or London (hybrid, 3 days onsite)

This is an opportunity to join a growing application engineering team working on production-grade systems at the intersection of software engineering, data, and applied AI.
THE ROLE
As an Application Engineer, you will work within a cross-functional product team, building and scaling features that are used directly by customers.
* Develop full stack features across a large, complex platform
* Work with high-volume, data-heavy systems where performance and scalability matter
* Collaborate closely with product managers, QA, and AI-focused R&D teams
* Take ownership of features from design through to production and iteration
* Contribute ideas and improvements rather than working from rigid specifications
TECH ENVIRONMENT
* JavaScript and TypeScript
* Node. xsngvjr js
* Modern frontend frameworks (with an ongoing migration to React)
* PostgreSQL, Elasticsearch, Redis
* AWS, Docker, Kubernetes
* Java / Python experience is an advantage
WHAT THEY ARE LOOKING FOR
* Strong academic background in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or a related discipline (1st or 2.1 from a good University)
* Typically 3–5 years of commercial software engineering experience, with flexibility for exceptional candidates
* Experience building production software, ideally in a full stack environment
* Strong problem-solving ability and logical thinking
