The Newark & Sherwood Community Mental Health team are a well-established team, offering assessment and treatment for people over the age of 65 with mental health needs and for people of any age with a dementia diagnosis. The team covers the Newark & Sherwood locality. Working hours of the team are Monday to Friday, 9am – 5pm.

Please note applicants will be required to pay for their DBS check. Costs are deducted from salary following appointment. The cost of the DBS application is £26.40 (standard) or £54.40 (enhanced), this cost will be deducted from your salary over the first 2 months of employment. You are encouraged to enrol for the DBS Update Service. An annual fee of £16 per year applies.
The post-holder will work in a multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive assessment and interventions which promotes recovery, enabling patients to remain at home and supporting their positive mental and physical wellbeing.
Responsibilities
* To provide an occupational therapy service for older people with complex mental health needs / dementia who are referred to the service including providing duty cover for the team.
* To carry out specialist occupational therapy assessment, goal setting, implementation of treatment programmes and evaluation.
* To establish the needs of individuals referred to the service and plan care with colleagues from health, social services, families, and the voluntary sector.
* To represent and promote the specialist role of Occupational Therapy.
