We have an exciting opportunity for a Substance Misuse Recovery Worker to join the team at HMP Kirkham, a Category D / open prison for males with capacity of around 700. HMP Kirkham is a unique environment, with stunning grounds and lots to offer both staff and patients, including our brand new, state of the art gym.

Join the Recovery Team and empower those whom wish to make changes in their behaviour to promote health and well-being through recovery from drugs and alcohol.

This is a crucial role within the healthcare team, making a real difference to patients, and delivering outstanding care.

Hours

This is a full time role, 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Shifts are 8am - 4pm.

Salary

This position is full time, you'll receive an annual salary of £29,264 - £33,510 dependent on experience.

What you'll be doing

As our new Substance Misuse Recovery Worker, your responsibilities will vary. Some of your duties will include:

Delivering outstanding care to psychosocial patients, seeking out, listening to, and acting on their feedback - ensuring that their care is personalised and tailored to the individual
Manage a caseload of patients (around with varying needs, including substance misuse, mental health, trauma etc
Deliver group sessions on overdose awareness, harm reduction, motivation to change, relapse prevention and wellbeing
Providing a programme of psychosocial interventions and comprehensive assessments, including SMART Recovery
Provide information and advice on substance misuse, alcohol, smoking cession, blood borne viruses and safe sex practices
Prepare patients for release
Carry out risk assessments alongside internal and external colleagues

Our New Substance Misuse Recovery Worker Will

Have experience within Substance misuse, ideally a prison / secure environment, and ideally within a Recovery Worker / Practitioner role
Have experience of working within the substance misuse multi-disciplinary framework, which includes housing, social care, health care and mental health pathways
Have experience of managing a caseload
Have a flexible approach, and excellent communication skills
