Senior Building Surveyor
Location: Hampshire
Contract: 37 hrs per week, 3-month ongoing contract
Pay: inside IR35 - £25-30 per hour (Negotiable)
Spencer Clarke Group are working alongside a local authority in Hampshire, who are looking to appoint a Senior Building Surveyor to become an integral part of the Property Services Team. In this role, you will lead surveying efforts for our housing stock and corporate assets, overseeing evaluations, diagnosing required work, and managing a range of projects.
Key Responsibilities
1. Survey housing stock and corporate assets, evaluating and diagnosing required work.
2. Assess the best options for carrying out work and prepare specifications of work as necessary.
3. Manage a varied range of projects, including decorations, cladding, fire safety work, window replacement, re-roofing, electrical work, extensions, and structural repairs.
4. Lead complex or high-profile projects involving a varied team of professionals.
5. Allocate workloads and develop the team, facilitating relevant training to ensure consistent surveying and management approaches.
6. Assess asset conditions, identify cyclical work, prioritize demands, and prepare planned maintenance programs.
7. Assist with procurement and contract management, ensuring service delivery according to agreed terms and conditions.
8. Manage and develop a team of Surveyors, overseeing surveying duties across housing and corporate assets.
Requirements
9. Degree or HNC level qualification in a relevant building surveying or construction-related subject, preferably with RICS or CIOB membership.
10. Knowledge of JCT and NEC suite of contracts, including experience in managing contractors and resolving disputes.
11. Understanding of building construction technology, building pathology, and health & safety legislation.
12. Ability to apply building-related legislation, contract law, and guidance, including building regulations, planning law, fire safety regulations, and CDM Regulations.
13. Proficiency in undertaking various surveys, assessing technical staff, and coaching surveying skills.
