Turriff Playgroup is a committee-run early years setting, providing a safe, nurturing and stimulating environment for young children. We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Playgroup Manager to lead our dedicated team, ensuring high-quality care and learning experiences in line with national guidelines.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Management
· Oversee the daily running of the playgroup.
· Lead, support, and motivate staff to deliver excellent standards of care and learning.
· Work in partnership with the Playgroup Committee, providing regular updates on operations, staffing, and finances.
Children’s Learning & Development
· Plan and deliver a curriculum in line with the Curriculum for Excellence and GIRFEC (Getting It Right for Every Child).
· Ensure all children’s individual needs are met and progress is tracked.
· Maintain a safe, stimulating, and inclusive environment.
Compliance & Safeguarding
· Ensure the setting meets Care Inspectorate standards and all legal requirements.
· Maintain accurate records (children’s files, registers, staff training, policies).
· Safeguard and promote the welfare of all children.
· Creating and implementing policies and risk assessments.
Parent & Community Engagement
· Build positive relationships with parents and carers.
· Communicate regularly about children’s progress and playgroup activities.
· Foster links with local schools, organisations, and the wider community.
Administration
· Manage budgets and resources in partnership with the committee.
· Oversee staff rotas, training, and development.
· Contribute to funding applications and fundraising activities.
Essential Requirements
· Relevant childcare qualification (e.g. HNC in Childcare, or equivalent).
· BA in Childhood practice (or willing to work towards this)
· A minimum of 4 years experience working with young children in an early years setting.
· Strong leadership, organisational, and communication skills.
· Knowledge of Curriculum for Excellence, GIRFEC, and Care Inspectorate requirements.
· PVG Scheme membership (or willingness to join).
· Computer Literate.
· SSSC registered.
Desirable
· Experience managing staff and/or working in a committee-run setting.
· First Aid, Food Hygiene, and Child Protection training.
· Knowledge of local community and services in Turriff.
Hours & Salary
Term-time only, with full school holidays off.
Approx. 28 hours per week, to be agreed with the committee.
£17/hour starting rate, negotiable dependent on experience and qualifications.
