The role of Senior Procurement Manager is crucial in supporting the Head of Procurement to help Goldsmiths achieve its organizational goals. This includes managing the procurement of a wide range of goods and services, realizing cost savings, and contributing to efficiency and savings initiatives related to the non-pay recovery program. The role involves developing a more strategic procurement function, ensuring value for money, improving processes, and enhancing communication with non-financial staff about procurement best practices.
The Senior Procurement Manager will negotiate contracts, improve service delivery, and drive ongoing cost savings. They will also deputize for the Head of Procurement as needed.
Main duties:
1. Provide guidance and undertake procurement activities across Goldsmiths;
2. Maximize advantages from centrally negotiated contracts and monitor their effectiveness;
3. Support and develop the Procurement Strategy and ensure its implementation;
4. Develop, monitor, and enforce procurement policies for compliance;
5. Promote value for money through various procurement activities;
6. Advise staff on procurement matters;
7. Stay informed of relevant developments affecting the College;
8. Ensure adherence to Goldsmiths Financial Regulations;
9. Provide contractual advice to staff without purchasing expertise;
10. Conduct procurement seminars and training;
11. Complete necessary reports and surveys;
12. Develop procurement expertise across Goldsmiths;
13. Ensure compliance with EU and UK Public Sector regulations;
14. Prepare reports and discuss Value for Money reports with the Audit Committee;
15. Oversee purchasing card arrangements;
16. Manage national and consortium contracts, ensuring performance and value;
17. Develop and implement best practice procurement policies;
18. Improve procurement systems and processes;
19. Handle procurement approvals via electronic systems;
20. Represent Goldsmiths in consortium and collaborative negotiations;
21. Develop and monitor procurement performance measures;
22. Perform other duties as required;
23. Align with Goldsmiths’ Regulations, Strategy, and Objectives, promoting Equality and Diversity;
24. Participate in health and safety training and adhere to policies;
25. Deputize for the Head of Procurement during absences.
