As a Strategic Control Hydraulic Analyst,you’llplaya central rolein helping us understand and improve how our water supply networkoperates.You’lldevelophands-onexperience with hydraulic modelling tools, data analysis, andreal-timeoperational support,all while working closely with skilled colleagues across Operations, Engineering & Construction (E&C), Engineering Technical Services (ETS)and our Operational Control Centre.
This is a fantastic role for a graduate who enjoysproblem-solving, data, modelling and making areal-worldimpact.You’llbe helping shape how water reaches millions of customers across theSoutheast.
What you willbe responsible for:
1. Supporting the programme management of annual outage plans andday-to-daySCO activities
2. Running hydraulic modelling for planned Water Supply activities, including mass balance modelling, scenariosimulationsand storage forecasting
3. Monitoring and analysing system performance (pressure, DMAs, water quality) to helpidentifyimprovements
4. Developing and updating hydraulic models using tools such asInfoWorks, ArcGIS and other modelling platforms
5. Providing technical input during Risk & Value and Solution Development for capital projects
6. Supporting incident response through hydraulic modelling and simulation within the Network Risk Advisor framework
7. Working collaboratively with Operations and other teams to develop effective outage recovery strategies
8. Contributing to continuous improvement and wider optimisation work across the business
Additionalrequirements specific to the role
9. Collaboration with Operational Control Centre production planners on forward outage planning (weekly to annual planning horizons)
10. Occasional travel to operational sites
11. Flexibility to support incidents whenrequired
Whatyou’llbring to the role:
Essential
12. A degree (or equivalent experience) in a relevant field (e.g. Engineering, Geography, Environmental Science, Maths, Data or related)
13. Familiarity or interest in hydraulic modelling tools such asInfoWorksorAquator
14. Understanding of water abstraction, treatment or distribution,or a strong enthusiasm to learn
15. Proficiencyin GIS tools (ArcGIS, MapInfo) and strong Excel skills
16. Strong analytical skills and confidence interpreting technical data
17. Ability to communicate insights clearly with different stakeholders
Desirable
18. Experience within the UK water industry or another regulated utility
19. Knowledge of water sector regulatory requirements
20. Experience supporting engineering or capital delivery projects
