Specialist Nursery Nurse - Child Development Centres

The closing date is 30 March 2026

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our multidisciplinary team supporting children with additional needs and their families. Based at one of our Child Development Centres (CDC), this role involves working closely with families, nurseries, and professionals to assess and support children’s developmental needs.

You will be part of a compassionate and collaborative team committed to delivering outstanding care.

These posts are full or part time with a minimum of 22.5 hours per week for part time.

Full training and support will be provided, but you will be expected to bring extensive prior experience of working with pre‑school children with additional needs. You will be line‑managed by the Child Development Centre & Specialist Play Team Lead working in partnership with a range of healthcare professionals. Your observations may contribute to future diagnoses, so a high level of accuracy and a thorough understanding of child development are essential.

Join our team, we pride ourselves in providing outstanding care to patients across Herefordshire and Worcestershire. We will provide you with resources to develop and progress a long‑term career as well as flexibility, continual professional development as well as a wide range of wellbeing and support. You will assess and support the developmental needs of pre‑school children with additional needs through 1‑1 and co‑facilitated group sessions.

Please note the Trust will not routinely provide sponsorship to work for this role.

Main duties of the job

These sessions help families understand their child’s strengths and identify how to best support their child. The role involves close collaboration with healthcare professionals to fully understand each child and include sign‑posting families to services across health, education, social care and voluntary sectors. Strong empathetic communication skills are essential, along with the ability to maintain accurate records and produce clear, formal reports. The post holder must demonstrate cultural sensitivity and work respectfully with families from diverse backgrounds. A sound understanding of safeguarding procedures for pre‑school children is required. Regular supervision supports ongoing professional development. Travel is required to deliver care in CDCs, nurseries and family homes, ensuring support is accessible and responsive.

If you would like to discuss informally if this is the right role for you, get in touch with Recruiting Manager which can be found on the top right‑hand side of the advert.
