Teaching Personnel is working in partnership with a number of schools across Hastings and the wider East Sussex area and is currently seeking compassionate and resilient Pastoral Support Officers to support pupils’ wellbeing, behaviour, and personal development on a flexible or long-term basis.
This role is ideal for individuals with experience supporting children or young people emotionally, socially, or behaviourally, and who are passionate about helping pupils overcome barriers to learning.
The Role:
* Providing pastoral support to pupils on a one-to-one or small group basis
* Supporting pupils with emotional, social, and behavioural needs
* Promoting positive behaviour and supporting schools’ behaviour policies
* Working closely with teaching staff, SEN teams, and safeguarding leads
* Supporting pupils’ attendance, engagement, and wellbeing
* Acting as a trusted adult and point of contact for students
* Liaising with parents, carers, and external agencies where appropriate
* Maintaining accurate records and contributing to pastoral plans
Essential Requirements:
* Experience working with children or young people in a pastoral, support, care, or mentoring role
* Strong interpersonal, communication, and listening skills
* A calm, patient, and empathetic approach
* Ability to manage challenging behaviour in a positive and consistent manner
* A professional, reliable, and proactive attitude
* An enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one
