Head of Compliance (Public Sector)
Downpatrick | £27.60 per hour | Full-time, Temporary
VANRATH are delighted to be partnering with Newry, Mourne and Down District Council in the recruitment of a Head of Compliance to lead their Information Governance and Records Management functions. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced compliance professional to step into a strategic leadership role within a dynamic public sector organisation.
The Role
As Head of Compliance, you will:
1. Lead the Council's Information Governance agenda, including Data Protection, FOI, and Environmental Information.
2. Act as the Council's Data Protection Officer (DPO), ensuring GDPR compliance and managing data breaches.
3. Oversee the development and implementation of Records Management Strategy, including electronic document systems.
4. Provide expert advice to senior leadership and elected members on compliance and governance matters.
5. Represent the Council in external forums and tribunals, ensuring best practice and statutory compliance.
The Ideal Candidate
6. Degree-qualified with 2+ years' management experience in compliance, governance, or records management.
7. Proven experience in budget management and staff supervision.
8. Strong working knowledge of GDPR, FOI, and Data Protection legislation.
9. Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
10. Proficient in Microsoft Office and able to interpret complex legislation.
