Base pay range
The role is responsible for fulfilling licensing acquisitions and renewals for all video content in our Sage Video and Sage Research Methods streaming video collections sold to the worldwide library market. This person will also work in a strategic capacity with other video team members to identify suitable content for licensing to fulfil the goals of these collections.
Key Accountabilities
1. Develop content licensing plans for video products in partnership with Editorial colleagues, using finalized content plans and content partner leads generated by subject editors; proactively seek additional licensing opportunities for video products, understanding the key needs of video content, and collaborating with other content partners as needed.
2. Execute licensing plans and manage all licensing needs through successful negotiations and contract closures with licensing partners, ensuring alignment with business needs, budget, and milestones.
3. Lead on implementing plans, strategies, and communication for all video licensing renewals, adhering to budget and milestones.
4. Draft and review Sage Video licensing agreements with internal stakeholders to ensure terms meet business needs; participate in strategic discussions about new business models and their impact on licensing.
5. Manage delivery of licensed video content and metadata, coordinating with licensing partners, Editorial, and Video Production teams according to content milestones.
6. Oversee rights management of licensed video content and metadata within internal systems and processes.
7. Represent Video Editorial’s licensing requirements in team meetings and foster strong internal relationships.
8. Work with Video Production to oversee licensing payments and track costs and usage within Sage products.
9. Coordinate with UK Finance to oversee the royalty process and ensure accurate royalty statements to content partners.
10. Manage partner relationships and research licensing opportunities through conferences, market research, and data analysis.
Skills, Qualifications, and Experience
* Proven experience in content licensing within academic/higher education publishing, video distribution, or related fields, or demonstrated equivalent competence.
* Strong contract negotiation skills with understanding of product development, rights management, or client management.
* Experience with licensing, contracts, negotiations, or film distribution is advantageous but not essential.
* Ability to prioritize and focus to ensure successful content delivery.
* Ability to work globally and build relationships across offices.
* Excellent time management and organizational skills.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
* Comfortable working remotely.
* Proficient in MS Office and able to learn internal IT systems.
