What does a Midweight Designer do at WPP Production?

As a Midweight Graphic Designer at WPP Production, you will play a key role in creating and delivering high-quality design projects across print, digital, and motion platforms. This position is ideal for a designer with solid creative instincts and technical expertise, capable of producing work that aligns with brand identities while meeting client expectations. You’ll be expected to balance creativity with practicality, ensuring designs are visually engaging and effective in achieving project goals.

In this role, you’ll collaborate closely with clients, project managers, and fellow creatives to produce polished designs that demonstrate attention to detail and innovative problem-solving. Our Midweight Designers thrive in fast-paced, dynamic environments, bringing adaptability, curiosity, and a willingness to learn new tools and techniques to every project. Your ability to stay organised and focused under pressure will be essential to your success.

You’ll work collaboratively with the wider Creative Department and Project Management teams, contributing to a supportive and team-oriented atmosphere to deliver exceptional results—even when faced with tight deadlines or evolving priorities. Occasionally, flexibility may be required to extend beyond standard working hours to meet critical deadlines or prepare for client presentations.

Reporting to a Senior Designer or Executive Design Director, you’ll receive mentorship and guidance to further develop your skills and grow professionally. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated designer looking to elevate their craft and contribute meaningfully to a highly creative and innovative environment.

Key Responsibilities

Creative Design & Execution

  • Work on design briefs, conceptualizing and delivering creative solutions across a variety of projects, including marketing collateral, branding, social media, print assets, motion graphics, and presentations.
  • Develop visually appealing designs that adhere to brand guidelines and meet campaign goals and client objectives.

Concept Development & Innovation

  • Contribute to campaign ideation by bringing fresh, innovative ideas that align with brand strategies.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, tools, and technologies to enhance the quality and creativity of projects.

Client Engagement

  • Collaborate with clients to understand their needs and translate them into effective design solutions.
  • Present creative concepts with confidence, clearly explaining design decisions and incorporating feedback as needed.

Collaboration & Teamwork

  • Work closely with senior designers, art directors, writers, marketing teams, and other stakeholders to deliver high-quality results.
  • Actively participate in brainstorming sessions and design critiques, providing constructive feedback and insights.

Project Management & Organisation

  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, meeting deadlines while maintaining attention to detail and quality.
  • Keep files and tasks well-organised to ensure efficient workflow and easy access for team members.

Brand Consistency & Quality Control

  • Ensure all designs align with brand guidelines and visual identity standards.
  • Review work for accuracy, consistency, and quality, ensuring it meets production requirements and agency standards.

Technical Expertise

  • Demonstrate strong proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, After Effects, etc.) and other relevant design tools.
  • Create high-quality designs suitable for both digital and print mediums.

Attention to Detail & Craftsmanship

  • Maintain a keen eye for detail throughout the design process, from initial concept to final execution.

Interpersonal Skills

  • Communicate effectively with team members and clients, fostering a collaborative and positive work environment.
  • Be receptive to feedback and adaptable when revising designs to meet project needs.

Requirements

  • Strong portfolio showcasing diverse design projects.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Graphic Design or a related field.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Premier Pro, After Effects) and other relevant design tools (PowerPoint etc).
  • Familiarity with AI tools for generative image creation, video production, and text generation is a plus.
  • Good skills in motion graphics and animation.
  • Skilled in brand identity design with experience of brand identity creation and execution.
  • Solid understanding of layout, typography, visual hierarchy, and conceptual thinking.
  • Ability to translate ideas into visually compelling designs with attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to articulate design concepts effectively.
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to work closely with team members and clients.
  • Confidence in presenting creative concepts and explaining design rationale clearly.
  • Participate actively in brainstorming sessions, contributing innovative ideas to design concepts.
  • Attend meetings and presentations to gather feedback and refine work as needed.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring deadlines are met without compromising quality.
  • Track timelines and maintain an organized workflow to support project delivery.
  • Thrive in a fast-paced environment, adapting to changing priorities and client needs.
  • Bring creative thinking and problem-solving skills to push the boundaries of design
