Job Summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Gastroenterology and Screening Directorate for a full‑time Band 5 Clinical Audit Officer. Previous experience in undertaking audits and creating reports is essential. The post holder will support the Senior Management team and Clinical Leads to conduct audits, ensuring compliance with JAG (Endoscopy) accreditation and Screening SQAS, monitor the audit programme, and contribute to the Trust and Departmental clinical audit and effectiveness programme. The role involves working at both Brighton and Haywards Heath, with base at RSCH.
Main Duties
* Plan, lead and complete clinical audit projects in partnership with operational leads.
* Develop specialty‑wide project plans comparing current practice with evidence‑based best practice, including NICE guidelines and international procedures.
* Administer the national audit programme (SQAS, JAG), ensuring accurate data collection and timely submission.
* Encourage and facilitate client/patient involvement in audits, seeking opportunities to add value through consumer participation.
* Provide support and advice on audit design, methodology, data analysis, report writing and presentations to professionals and managers.
* Maintain relationships with representatives of other departments to stay updated on audit/governance initiatives and relay relevant information to the nominated lead.
* Assist the Endoscopy Lead in meeting departmental audit strategies.
* Support Clinical Managers in conducting necessary clinical reviews.
* Utilise outcomes data to improve service provision.
* Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of wider clinical governance issues.
* Attend specialty meetings and governance meetings as required.

Essential
* Educated to A Level or equivalent.
* Experience working with complex data.
* Experience in undertaking audits.
* Organisational skills and attention to detail.
* Evidence of developing understanding of equalities issues.
* Evidence of championing diversity in previous roles (as appropriate).
* Ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines.
* Good communication skills.
Desirable
* Knowledge of SQAS and JAG.
* Project Management qualification.
