Overview
SEN EYFS Teaching Assistant | Location: Teignbridge | Start Date: ASAP | Contract Type: Ongoing | Pay: £90 - £95 per day
We are currently seeking a skilled and proactive SEN EYFS Teaching Assistant to join a vibrant and energetic Early Years classroom supporting pupils with complex needs. This is an immediate start, ongoing position working within an established team (Teacher + 2 TAs). You will support a small group of 6 pupils, most of whom are pre-verbal or non-verbal, with some new to a school setting. The classroom is lively and fast-paced, requiring someone with clear spoken English, strong communication skills, confidence using visual or alternative communication methods, and a calm, resilient, hands-on approach.
Responsibilities
* Support a small group of up to 6 pupils in EYFS with complex needs, many of whom are pre-verbal or non-verbal.
* Assist with speech and language development and use visual or alternative communication methods as needed.
* Contribute to a busy, engaging early years environment in collaboration with the teacher and other support staff.
Ideal Candidate
* Proven experience supporting children with SEN in EYFS or primary settings.
* Experience with Makaton, PECs, or AAC devices is desirable but not essential.
* Proactive, energetic attitude with strong behaviour management and sensory awareness.
Requirements
* Comfortable working in an active, high-energy environment.
* Able to work as part of a collaborative and supportive team.
* Deputy responsibilities may include personal care, including nappy changing, as part of the role.
