Job Description
This is a part-time position; the salary will be pro-rata'd to the hours worked.
The catering assistant will undertake, under the general direction of the cook or catering manager, the preparation, simple cooking, and serving of food within the residential care home. Duties include basic food and beverage preparation (e.g., preparing vegetables and snacks), simple cooking (e.g., reheating or reconstructing prepared food), serving meals, general kitchen and serving duties (e.g., washing up, setting up, and clearing away equipment and hot trolleys), and cleaning the kitchen, its surrounds, and equipment.
Applicants should hold an SVQ in Food Preparation and a relevant REHIS Elementary Food Hygiene certificate.
You must have the ability to relate well to older people and to work effectively both within a team and independently.
Requirements
This role is considered a Regulated Role with Adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2020. Membership with the PVG scheme is essential. Further details about this scheme can be found here.
Preferred applicants will be required to become members of the relevant PVG scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer from West Dunbartonshire Council.
