Job Summary
Pharmacy Assistant Technical Officer Band 2 37.5 hours per week - Permanent
Working within the Pharmacy Department at Tameside General Hospital, this role supports our team of pharmacists and technicians in the provision of a dispensing and distribution service to wards, departments and clinics within the Trust.
Previous pharmacy experience would be an advantage, but full training will be provided for those with no experience.
You will also undertake a GPhC approved course in Pharmacy Stock Management.
GCSEs in Maths and English at grades A-C (or equivalent) and basic computer knowledge are desirable, but functional skills can be undertaken alongside the stock management course.
Responsibilities
* Provide support to Pharmacists and technical staff working in the Dispensary, Aseptic Dispensing Unit and Pharmacy Receipt & Distribution.
* Visit hospital wards and departments as part of the provision of a comprehensive pharmaceutical service.
Qualifications (Desirable)
* Good general education, preferably Mathematics and English at GCSE level or functional skills will be offered.
* Training to NVQ2 level, or equivalent, attained or will be provided.
Experience (Desirable)
* Recent experience of working in a Healthcare setting.
* Recent experience of working in another public / customer service industry.
Skills & Knowledge (Essential)
* Can communicate effectively verbally and in writing with patients and service users, particularly by telephone.
* Able to prioritise own workload within the scope of organised rotas.
Skills & Knowledge (Desirable)
* Familiarity with the necessary keyboard skills required to use the departmental computer systems.
Other Factors (Essential)
* Able to meet the demands of a busy department.
* Able to work as part of a large team.
* Able to lift and move manual loads (i.e. pharmacy boxes ; deliveries).
* Reliable and dependable.
* Trustworthy with a strong sense of responsibility.
