This role will be agile, with a mixture of office and home working. You will be provided with the support and equipment you'll need to work from home. There will be a requirement to attend the office in Ty Hywel, Cardiff Bay to suit business needs, and at least one day a week
Job Summary
Within the Employee Services team, sits the Payroll Team consisting of the Payroll Manager, the Payroll Supervisor and a Payroll Assistant. We are currently recruiting for a second Payroll Assistant post.
Your primary responsibilities will initially be focused on the Payroll tasks listed below, however you may be asked to occasionally provide cover for some HR administrative tasks.
The postholder must be able to work within tight deadlines and have resilience to manage pressure points during busy periods of the month, with the ability to process large volumes of payroll actions within limited timeframes.
The postholder will be given full training and support, with checklist and processes in place to support the postholder to undertake a range of different types of payroll actions (such as processing new starters, leavers, changes to terms and conditions, allowances etc). Once trained, the ideal candidate will be able to use their own initiative, to manage routine processes within the established processes, whilst using judgement and their experience to know when to escalate more complex actions.

Person specification
* Strong IT skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office programmes, in particular the use of Excel spreadsheets.
* Excellent customer service and communication skills with experience of working with sensitive, and confidential information, with the ability to demonstrate sensitivity in dealing with issues relating to individuals.
* Demonstrate the ability to work using your own initiative, while using the support and resources available to you. Using your judgement to escalate tasks where necessary.
* Excellent accuracy and attention to detail, with numerical aptitude, along with effective organisational skills and the ability to respond quickly to changing demands.
* Working within tight deadlines and able to cope with large volumes of actions under pressure.
