Job Overview

Crown Court Admin Officers are responsible for managing criminal digital files in preparation for hearings, handling correspondence and general enquiries from criminal justice agencies, solicitors, barristers and the public via post, email, telephone and in person. They also deal with the full range of serious criminal work and manage jurors.

You will be assigned to teams to carry out a variety of general administrative duties to progress cases through the court/tribunal system or provide support to other functions within HMCTS.


Responsibilities

* Manage criminal digital files for upcoming hearings.
* Respond to correspondence and enquiries from criminal justice agencies, solicitors, barristers and the public.
* Handle the full range of serious criminal work, including the management of jurors.
* Carry out general administrative duties to progress cases through the court/tribunal system.
* Provide proactive and effective support to customers by phone and email.


Essential Qualifications & Skills

* A friendly and approachable manner with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Strong attention to detail and the ability to organize time, prioritize efficiently and multitask.
* Proficiency in using a variety of software packages.
* Experience in public‑facing customer service, administration and IT.
* Ability to work in a busy environment and help court users navigate the justice system.

Working Hours & Arrangements

* Standard full‑time working hours are 37 hours per week.
* Role may consider job‑share arrangements.
* Hybrid working: maximum of 60% of working time from home, with a minimum of 60% in the office (subject to local estate capacity).


Visa & Eligibility

* The role is not eligible for new Skilled Worker visas under current immigration rules.
* If you have held a Skilled Worker visa prior to 22 July 2025, eligibility will be assessed accordingly.
* Applicants must have the legal right to live and work in the UK and the Civil Service.
