Investigator – Police
The successful candidate will plan, co-ordinate and undertake investigations as tasked, utilising all available appropriate techniques and technologies to detect and reduce crime thereby bringing offenders to justice. The investigation team will support fast‑time investigations, record investigative actions via NICHE, maintain accuracy, scrutiny, timely completion and adherence to the Victims Code.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage and progress the investigation of criminal offences and other incidents/enquiries.
* Complete investigative actions and prepare case papers ensuring file completeness and delivery to Court deadlines as required.
* Maintain victim and witness confidence to facilitate successful outcomes.
* Provide resilience support to the wider investigative team and assist with fast‑time investigations where appropriate.
* Record and maintain investigative actions via NICHE to ensure accuracy and timely completion.
Requirements
* Good standard of education with excellent verbal, written English and good numeracy skills.
* Ability to engage with people at all levels sensitively and discreetly in potentially confrontational or sensitive situations.
* Meticulous attention to detail, strong organisational and problem‑solving skills.
* Capability to travel across the Force in a timely manner; must hold a full driving licence.
* Physical fitness to complete officer safety training.
* Demonstrated self‑awareness and ability to monitor and manage wellbeing when dealing with distressing evidence.
Priority Knowledge (desirable)
* Knowledge of current Thames Valley Police systems.
* Understanding of technology and capturing digital evidence.
* Knowledge of legislation and Force policy relevant to investigations.
Location and Operational Details
Role based in Milton Keynes. Flexible start and finish times to meet operational demands.
