Service Care Legal are recruiting on behalf of a local authority in the Essex region who are seeking a Childcare Lawyer to join their team on a permanent basis. Please find below further details about the position.
Within this position, hybrid working opportunities are available. However, you are required to be on-site a minimum of 2 days a week.
As a Lawyer within the Council’s well-respected Legal Services team, you will be managing and advising on all aspects of care proceedings, adoption proceedings, and dealing with international issues as and when necessary.
The Role
* Managing Deprivation of Liberty (DOL) and Secure Accommodation proceedings.
* Drafting applications, case management documents, threshold statements, orders, and case summaries as necessary.
* Dealing with Section 7 and Section 37 matters.
* Providing advocacy in court.
* Leading and taking responsibility for routine and more complex cases as directed by the Principal Lawyer.
* Managing up to three legal assistants, empowering and engaging them to continually improve and deliver successful outcomes.
The Person
* Qualified Solicitor, Barrister or Legal Executive with a current practising certificate (England & Wales).
* 4 years’+ PQE
* Understanding of Local Government and experience of working in a political environment.
* In-depth knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, and procedures.
* Proven experience in the public sector, ideally local government.
