ROLE: Behaviour Analyst

LOCATION: HMP Millsike

We're looking for a Behaviour Analyst who will play a fundamental role in establishing a restorative, rehabilitative culture at HMP Millsike. This new position will support both staff and prisoners by applying behavioural science to help individuals develop new skills, reduce challenging behaviours, and engage positively with the prison regime.

Role Responsibilities:

1. Apply principles of learning and behaviour to support individuals in making meaningful, measurable changes.
2. Identify behavioural goals and implement evidence‑based interventions tailored to individual needs.
3. Work with prisoners displaying disruptive, harmful, violent, or self‑harming behaviours, including those associated with personality disorders (diagnosed or undiagnosed).
4. Support operational staff in understanding the function of specific behaviours and in developing effective strategies to reduce or mitigate them.
5. Collaborate closely with the psychology team to inform behaviour‑management planning and staff practice.
6. Develop behaviour‑support plans and strategies that increase engagement with the prison regime.
7. Participate in multi‑disciplinary work, providing specialist input into case discussions and planning.
8. Provide training and guidance to operational staff to enable consistent implementation of care plans.
9. Contribute to safer custody processes, including risk assessment, behavioural reviews, and support of complex cases.
10. Maintain professional records, documentation, and reports aligned with operational and clinical standards.
11. Support a rehabilitative environment built on safety, respect, and positive personal development for prisoners.

Required Qualifications:

Applicants must meet the below defined requirements for the role. 

12. Registration and certification with a recognised professional body (e.g., UK‑SBA or BCBA).
13. MSc in Applied Behaviour Analysis, Behaviour Analysis and Therapy, or a recognised equivalent.
14. Completion of UK‑SBA Supervision and Competence Standards (preferred).
15. Relevant experience working in custodial, secure, or challenging‑behaviour environments.
16. Strong communication skills with the ability to co‑create behaviour‑support plans with staff and partner agencies.
17. Skilled in risk assessment and multi‑disciplinary working.
18. Ability to train, coach, and upskill staff in behaviour‑support practices.
19. Experience developing and implementing plans to encourage positive behaviour.
20. Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities within a dynamic operational environment.
21. Commitment to ongoing CPD to maintain professional certification.
