Lead Occupational Therapist
TipTopJob – Excellent opportunity to join a leading private mental health hospital based in Hassocks, West Sussex. The hospital specialises in the care of patients with mental illnesses and/or personality disorders, offering male acute services, high‑dependency units for both sexes, a female low‑secure unit, and a specialist personality disorder unit.
To be considered you must be an Occupational Therapist registered with the HCPC.
Key Responsibilities
* Co‑ordinate and manage the day‑to‑day operation of the Occupational Therapy Service, reflecting agreed contact targets.
* Lead the planning and delivery of multidisciplinary therapeutic patient activity programmes across the hospital.
* Provide clinical support and professional supervision to the occupational therapy team.
* Provide specialist clinical interventions based on evidence‑based practice to enhance patients’ recovery and sense of wellbeing through engagement in occupation.
* Collaborate with external agencies to maintain links with community activities and patient social inclusion programmes (e.g., Koestler Trust, community art festivals).
* Convey the strategic development of the service in line with Care Quality Commission, governance, national care standards, and professional specific agendas, in collaboration with the Regional Head Occupational Therapist.
* Maintain a clinical caseload.
Qualifications & Experience
* Registered Occupational Therapist with HCPC.
* Experience supervising or line‑managing staff.
* Excellent communication skills and ability to prioritise and manage time effectively.
* Proven experience leading and facilitating individual/group sessions.
* Minimum of 3 years’ experience working in mental health, ideally within an inpatient setting.
