Clinical/Forensic/Counselling Psychologist OPD Pathway - SOLAR Service
HCPC Registered Clinical/Forensic/Counselling Psychologist to work as part of the SOLAR Service at HMP North Sea Camp within the OPD Pathway and the Specialist Services Care Unit. The SOLAR service is one of the Pathways Enhanced Resettlement (PERS) services forming part of the Offender Personality Disorder (OPD) Pathway in open prisons. PERS services support individuals who may struggle transitioning from closed to open conditions or into the community due to personality traits.
Responsibilities
* Jointly provide clinical leadership for a team approach to supporting individuals to manage the transition to open conditions, addressing personality traits and associated emotional/behavioural instability.
* Identify and assess suitability for the service following screening; support Officers to engage individuals in keywork and develop survival plans/formulations.
* Support development of psychologically informed management of anticipated hurdles and provide supervision and consultancy to the team and other prison departments (Offender Management Unit, Security, Safer Custody).
* Lead and participate in multi-disciplinary team discussions; contribute to outcome data, audits and evaluation; liaise with commissioners as required.
* Work with the Custodial Manager and Head of Function to promote psychologically informed working practices within the prison environment.
* Develop and deliver the SOLAR service in collaboration with the Consultant Clinical Psychologist and other OPD pathway clinical leads; engage with the wider OPD pathway team nationally and regionally.
* Engage in on-site presence with flexible working arrangements and participate in wider OPD pathway meetings (PERS Clinical Leads).
* Ensure own supervision and reflective practice and support team members in supervising others.
* DBS: note that applicants are responsible for paying the DBS check (£26.40 standard, £54.40 enhanced); DBS Update Service available (£16/year).
Qualifications and Requirements
* Essential: Honours degree in Psychology (BPS-accredited); Doctorate in Clinical/Forensic/Counselling Psychology; eligible for chartered status; HCPC registered as a Practitioner Psychologist.
* Desirable: Specific additional accreditation; post-qualification specialist training in forensic/clinical/counselling practice; training in case formulation.
Experience and Skills
* Essential: Experience in clinical/forensic/counselling psychology practice; service evaluation and research; clinical supervision and reflective practice; knowledge of assessment, management and treatment models for Personality Disorder and complex trauma.
* Desirable: Experience with offending and complex trauma histories; use of specialist treatments (e.g., EMDR, Schema therapy); research skills.
* Skills: complex psychological assessment and intervention for PD/trauma; capability to work in a multi-disciplinary team; formulation consultation and teaching skills.
