About the Role
We are seeking a trustee to take on the Deputy Chair position, working alongside the Chair to support board renewal and succession planning. The Deputy Chair will represent Abbeyfield Reigate locally and at national events.
What Difference Will You Make?
Abbeyfield Reigate has provided sheltered accommodation for older people in Reigate for over 50 years. The Deputy Chair will help develop the team and resources to ensure the charity continues its mission for the next 50 years.
What Are We Looking For?
* Experience in team leadership, recruitment, and development
* Business planning and operational deployment within budget
* Resource management skills
* Volunteer management experience (preferred but not essential)
* Commitment of approximately 10 hours per month
* Understanding of legal duties of charities and trustees (training available)
* Good judgment and creative thinking
* Effective team working and independent perspective
Key Responsibilities
* Lead board meetings and represent the charity externally
* Support the Chair in enabling staff and trustees to achieve their objectives
* Contribute to developing the charity's strategy and business plan
* Lead succession planning for key roles
