Overview
Millfield is seeking to appoint a full-time Teacher of English from January 2026. The successful candidate will be able to teach English Literature to at least GCSE level and will be an organised, dynamic teacher with a passion for their subject and the ability to inspire students across a range of ages and abilities. Experience of teaching A Level or supporting students with additional educational needs would be an advantage, though it is not essential.
The English & Media Department is a thriving and supportive team of sixteen full-time and two part-time teachers. The curriculum is varied and stimulating: in Year 9, students follow departmental schemes of work with scope for teacher creativity; in Years 10 and 11, they take Edexcel IGCSE English Language and Literature; and in the Sixth Form, students can study CIE International A Levels in English Literature and Media Studies.
Class sizes are deliberately small, typically 12–15, allowing teachers to build strong relationships with their students and provide truly individual support. The department prides itself on being collaborative, innovative, and committed to helping every pupil achieve their potential.
