About the Beverage Container Return Scheme (BCRS)
The Beverage Container Return Scheme (BCRS) is a nationwide initiative designed to:
* Improve recycling rates for beverage containers
* Reduce environmental waste and carbon emissions
* Encourage sustainable recycling habits among consumers
* Increase public awareness of environmental responsibility
Under the scheme, consumers pay a 10-cent refundable deposit on eligible pre-packaged beverages in plastic and metal containers (150ml to 3L). The deposit is refunded when empty containers are returned at designated collection points, including Reverse Vending Machines (RVMs).
Your Role as a Recycling Ambassador
As a Recycling Ambassador, you will be deployed at various Reverse Vending Machine (RVM) locations to support public engagement and ensure smooth day-to-day ground operations.
You will play an important role in educating residents, guiding users on the recycling process, and promoting positive environmental habits within the community.
Key Responsibilities
* Educate members of the public on eligible BCRS beverage containers
* Guide residents on the proper usage of Reverse Vending Machines (RVMs)
* Promote responsible recycling practices and answer basic enquiries
* Monitor machine usage and escalate operational issues when necessary
* Maintain a friendly, approachable, and professional appearance
* Ensure the deployment area remains clean, safe, and well‑organised
Work Requirements
* Able to commit for the full contract period:
1 July 2026 – 30 September 2026
* Comfortable working evenings and/or weekends
* Flexible to accommodate roster and schedule adjustments
* Comfortable standing for extended periods
* Punctual, responsible, and committed to assigned duties
Work Schedule
* Up to 5 working days per week
* Up to 40 hours per week
* Deployment roster will be provided
Deployment Arrangement
Candidates must be comfortable travelling between multiple deployment locations within a day.
Example:
* 9:00am – 11:00am (Location 1)
* 12:00pm – 2:00pm (Location 2)
* 3:00pm – 5:00pm (Location 3)
Requirements & Skills
* Friendly, confident, and comfortable interacting with the public
* Able to communicate clearly in English
* Interest in sustainability or environmental initiatives is advantageous
* Training will be provided — no prior experience required
* Open to students, fresh graduates, and candidates from all backgrounds
