Hays are working in partnership with a leading global, multidisciplined engineering and constructionpany to recruit a Project Design Engineer. This contractor provides a wide range of construction services across infrastructure sectors, including rail, water, power, and natural resources.
Your new role
The Project Design Engineer will support the delivery of various water projects across the UK and Ireland.
1. Producing design details for sewerage, water treatment, and structures such as access platforms and bridges
2. Managing and maintaining water and sewerage infrastructure operations
3. Overseeing suppliers and subcontractors
4. Presenting technical information to colleagues and clients
5. Writing reports including Lift Plans, Method Statements, and Risk Assessments
6. Managing project budgets
7. Staying informed on regulatory changes and guidelines
8. Managing contracts within budgetary constraints
9. Liaising with clients, contractors,ernment agencies, local authorities, and suppliers
10. Supervising staff and site workers
11. Using specialistputer applications and simulation software
12. Ensuring projects adhere to budgets and timelines
13. Maintaining awareness of environmental issues
What you'll need to succeed
Skills and Experience
14. 1–2 years’ experience in the water industry
15. Background in Electrical, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering
16. Strong technical and problem-solving skills
17. Ability to work under pressure
18. Creativity andmercial awareness
19. Effectivemunication and teamwork
Qualifications
20. Degree or equivalent in Electrical, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering
21. Proficiency in Microsoft Office; knowledge of AutoCAD/Revit is advantageous
22. Understanding of design processes and technical documentation
23. Somemercial awareness
