Join our dynamic Radiology team at the Great Western Hospital as a Band 6 Cross-Sectional Radiographer and play a key role in delivering high-quality diagnostic imaging to our patients. We’re looking for an enthusiastic and skilled Radiographer ready to take the next step in their career.

Main Duties
This role will be based at the GWH Radiology department and at the Community Diagnostic Centre in West Swindon on a rotational basis. In the Community Diagnostic Centre, you will work collaboratively with the GWH Radiology department to provide diagnostic radiographic examinations to the required standard.
* Independently assess and justify referrals under IR(ME)R 2017 following practitioner guidelines where appropriate.
* Interpret clinicians’ requirements, determine the appropriate radiographic imaging technique and ensure adherence to best practice and diagnostic image quality.
* Use discretion to work outside departmental standards when clinical circumstances necessitate, such as undertaking additional or specialist techniques.
* Report any untoward incidents and equipment failure to the Superintendent or Clinical Band 7.
* Abide by the Health and Safety Code of the unit and ensure patients and visitors do likewise.
* Appear on duty promptly, appropriately dressed, and behave in a professional manner.
* Work out of hours, including night shifts, to support the Radiology services offered at Great Western Hospital.

Job Description
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
* Undertake diagnostic scans in the absence of a Radiologist according to agreed protocols; administer contrast as required, ensuring safety checks and accurate dosage.
* Use the departmental Computed Radiography Information Computer System (CRIS) and the Picture Archive Communication Systems (PACS) as required.
* Carry out quality control procedures, including quality assurance testing for image quality and equipment safety, and assist with clinical audits.
* Participate in clinical audit and research and act on findings, providing statistical information on workload when necessary.
* Complete formal or informal training required to fulfil the needs of the post.
* Review and facilitate compliance, proposing changes with high standards across health and safety, infection control, patient experience and manual handling.
Person Specification
Qualifications
Essential:
* Degree in Diagnostic Radiography.
* Post‑graduate certificate in CT or MRI or equivalent training or experience.
* Registered with the Health Care Professions Council.
* General radiographic training.
Desirable:
* Evidence of CPD.
* Intravenous cannulation.
* Relevant study day attendance.
Experience & Skills
Essential:
* Extensive post‑graduate experience in radiography.
* Extensive CT experience.
* Experience of performance department quality assurance.
* Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team and independently.
* Experience supervising students.
Desirable:
* MRI experience.
* Cardiac CT experience.
* CT colonography.
* Interventional experience.
