Locum Commercial Contracts / Construction Lawyer – Full Time or Part Time – Up to £60 per hour umbrella – Remote Working – Initial 3+ months
Role
Venn Group’s specialist Legal team is recruiting for a Locum Commercial Contracts / Construction Lawyer to join a Local Authority on an initial 3-month assignment. The position offers remote working and provides an excellent opportunity to support a busy legal team on a varied range of commercial and construction matters.
Duties
Duties will include:
* Drafting and advising on JCT and NEC construction contracts
* Drafting and advising on grant funding agreements and contracts for services
* Advising on framework call-offs, including Crown Commercial Service and SCAPE frameworks
* Providing advice on Contract Procedure Rules (CPRs) and governance, including reviewing officer reports
* Offering ad hoc advice on issues such as debt recovery, procurement challenges, and contractual disputes
Ideal Candidate
* Qualified Solicitor, Barrister, or Chartered Legal Executive with recent local government or public sector experience
* Strong knowledge of commercial, procurement, and construction law
* Proven experience drafting and negotiating complex contracts and framework agreements
* Excellent communication and advisory skills, with a pragmatic approach to problem-solving
