Due to the increase in examinations and treatments we are now offering to our patients, our small, busy yet fun Radiology Team is in need of an additional Radiology Department Assistant to offer support within the Radiology Department, based at our Southampton hospital. Would you like the chance to play your role as part of a committed and focused team in this very diverse patient-centred care and clinical supportive position? You'll be working closely with the Sonographers and Radiographers, as part of an integrated team assisting with the delivery of safe, high-quality services to patients and users of our Radiology service.
Main duties of the job
As a Radiology Department Assistant, you'll effectively manage patient flow into and out of the department, ensuring patients are in place and where they should be at the right times. This may include escorting patients from waiting areas to imaging rooms and back, supporting the Sonographer during imaging procedures, assisting with documentation, investigation, or fetching equipment. You will also monitor health, safety, and hygiene standards in the department, ensuring cleanliness and identifying potential hazards for swift resolution. Additionally, you'll assist with managing stock and equipment levels, ordering supplies as needed.
This is a full-time permanent position (37.5 hours per week) working a 4-day rota from Monday to Saturday, 08:00 to 18:00.
About us
We see the appointed Radiology Department Assistant as someone with experience in a hospital or clinical environment, possibly having completed NVQ Level 1 & 2 in Health and Social Care or equivalent. You should be an effective communicator at all levels, both written and verbal, and be proficient in administrative tasks and computer use, including updating patient records and databases. You should be a strong team player, able to plan and prioritize your workload, with a good understanding of Infection Control and Health and Safety in healthcare settings.
