Security Officer – Wilson James
Permanent • Location: Cambridge • Hours: Zero Hours – varied shift pattern • Pay: £12.93 per hour
About the Role
We are seeking a reliable and proactive Security Officer to help maintain a safe and secure environment for our staff, visitors, and assets. You will be part of a full‑time support team working across multiple client sites.
Responsibilities
* Make rounds of inspection at fixed intervals and report via radio or other devices.
* Be alert to potential hazards; check for fire, flood; ensure all windows and doors are closed and locked; report serious incidents to Control Room immediately.
* Follow emergency and evacuation procedures; assist in searching sites/buildings as per procedures.
* Monitor and respond to CCTV and intruder/access alarms.
* Prevent unauthorised admission to premises.
* Report damage to perimeter fencing or other property that compromises security.
* Remain alert and vigilant to site activity to minimise risks through prompt action, investigation and reporting.
* Investigate suspicious persons or vehicles immediately; report to Supervisor and Police when emergency perceived.
* Investigate alarm activations as per site procedures.
* Monitor and control access during emergencies.
* Receive, direct and escort emergency services and other off‑site parties.

Qualifications
* Previous experience in a relevant role.
* Deliver excellent customer service.
* Basic IT skills.
* Ability to think and act quickly in emergencies or under pressure.
* Clear verbal and written reporting skills.
* High standard of personal presentation.
* Reliability – punctuality and attendance to ensure team effectiveness.
* Ability to work as part of a team.
* Calm and confident dealing with public demands.
* Understanding of equality and diversity principles.
* Flexibility.
* SIA – DS licence.
