Quantity Surveyor – NEC4 Option C (Target Cost)

Reporting to: Senior Quantity Surveyor
The Role
Project Quantity Surveyor role on a major construction project delivered under NEC4 Option C (Target Cost).
You’ll own the day-to-day commercial management of the project, controlling cost, change and applications, allowing the Senior QS to focus on strategy, recovery and senior negotiations.
This is a hands-on delivery role for a QS who is strong on Option C mechanics and change control.
Key Responsibilities
1. Day-to-day commercial control under NEC4 Option C
2. Managing Defined Cost, CRF updates and forecasting
3. Leading EWNs, NCEs and Compensation Events via CEMAR
4. Coordinating CE pricing, records and submissions
5. Supporting and overseeing Assistant QS and QS commercial inputs
6. Preparing and supporting monthly applications for payment
7. Maintaining robust, audit-ready commercial records
8. Working closely with site, planning and engineering teams
Experience Required
Essential
9. Quantity Surveyor experience on complex construction or infrastructure projects
10. Strong NEC experience, ideally Option C
11. Confident managing change and cost in a target cost environment
12. Experience using CEMAR or similar NEC systems
Highly Desirable
13. M&E background from a Tier 1 or Tier 2 contractor
Alternatively Considered
14. Infrastructure or civils QS with strong NEC Option C experience
15. Experience working in safety-critical / regulated environments
16. SC clearance held or obtainable
Rate & Contract
17. £400 per day Outside IR35
18. Higher rate available for the right candidate
19. Long-term contract on a major project
20. Hybrid working arrangement
