What skills and experience we're looking for

1. Relevant qualifications.
2. Good standard of general education including 5 GCSEs or equivalent (graded A-C) including Maths and English.
3. Knowledge of administrative practices and procedures.
4. Experience of working in a busy admin/secretarial position at a senior level with sound experience in customer, procurement, and project support services supporting a multi-discipline office/school environment.
5. Good knowledge of Microsoft packages. Advanced level Word (including mail merge), Outlook, and PowerPoint.
6. Ability to take accurate minutes. Highly organized, efficient, and accurate with excellent communication skills.
7. Understanding of the organisational structure of a school.
8. Experience of working with young people.
9. High level of literacy.
10. Understanding of Headteacher’s role (internal and external), school policies, and procedures.
11. Commitment to maintaining confidentiality.
12. Professional manner with the ability to relate well to staff, students, and visitors.
13. Strong organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills, along with the ability to work independently.
14. Proactive, flexible, and resilient, adept at managing diaries, correspondence, and various administrative tasks while supporting the Headteacher.
15. ICT competent and familiar with the Microsoft Office suite of applications.
16. Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and familiarity with child protection issues.
17. Good administrative organisation and communication skills.
18. Understanding of the Every Child Matters Agenda and its relationship to the SEAL agenda.
19. Ability to liaise effectively with parents and outside agencies.
20. Enjoy working with a wide variety of young people.
21. Excellent interviewer-personal skills and ability to work well as part of a team.
22. Confidence to manage student behaviour.
23. Resilient, firm, and consistent.
24. Comfortable with a challenging and varied workload and able to prioritise effectively.
25. Able to maintain confidentiality where applicable.
26. Able to work professionally with a wide range of people.
27. Ability to act on initiative within a team.
28. Commitment to safeguarding and ensuring the welfare of children and young people.
