Role: Lead Java Developer Location: Quarry House, Leeds (Hybrid – 60% onsite) Contract Type: Contract (Inside IR35) Rate: £700 per day Expenses: £1,000 per year Hours per Week: 37 Security Clearance: Must be eligible for SC clearance About the Role We are seeking a skilled Lead Java Developer to direct a team of Java Developers and play a pivotal role in building, scaling, and maintaining robust enterprise-level systems. This role requires strong technical expertise in Java, test automation, and scalable architecture, as well as the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences. The successful candidate will contribute to the development of high-traffic web applications, design and implement APIs, and support business-critical applications within a hybrid working model based in Leeds. Key Responsibilities Lead and mentor a team of Java Developers, ensuring high standards of delivery. Build and maintain robust automated test suites to support a continuous deployment environment. Design and implement APIs for both internal and external stakeholders. Provide 2nd-line support for applications and platforms. Contribute to the development of server-side web applications. Communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical audiences. Maintain skills in system administration and configuration management. Handle and scale large datasets efficiently. Design and support scalable, high-traffic websites while maintaining an understanding of web architecture. Work within Unix-like operating systems (Linux and/or MacOS). Essential Skills & Experience Proven experience as a Java Developer with leadership or team lead responsibilities. Strong knowledge of automated testing and CI/CD environments. Hands-on experience with API development and integration. Background in system administration and managing scalable infrastructures. Demonstrated ability to support and resolve issues in complex platforms. Excellent problem-solving and communication skills. Knowledge of Unix/Linux/MacOS operating systems.
