Overview
Applications are invited for the post of Locum Consultant in Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgery with a sub-specialty interest in lower limb trauma surgery. This post is to commence as soon as possible for six months. This is an opportunity to work at Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust alongside teams dedicated to quality of care, research, training and service improvement. The department is a major trauma centre with growing elective orthopaedic capacity and the Cambridge Movement Surgical Hub.
The successful applicant will join a large team in one of the busiest Major Trauma Centres in the UK and would be expected to have skills for treating the multiply-injured patient, open fractures and complex lower limb trauma alongside a multi-specialty trauma team. There is also an emphasis on managing lower limb arthroplasty, with experience at post-CCT Fellowship (or equivalent). Preference is for a skill set involving revision arthroplasty and perisprosthetic fracture surgery.
Responsibilities
* Take part in the on-call rota and have a mixed role in trauma and elective orthopaedic surgery; applicants wishing to focus solely on trauma care would be supported.
* Contribute to a supportive environment for research and training of Resident Trainees, Specialist Nurses and Allied Health Professionals.
Qualifications and Requirements
* Demonstrable skills in listening, reading, writing and speaking English that enable effective communication about medical topics with patients and colleagues, as set out in the GMC’s Good Medical Practice (2013). Non-UK applicants must possess the IELTS/OET exam before obtaining a GMC licence to practice.
