They enjoy a wide range of activities such as walking, bike riding, horse riding, beach trips and holidays as well as visiting zoos, safari parks and National Trust properties. Basically, if we want to try something and it's possible and safe to do so, we do it! Merrington Grange is in a very beautiful part of the Shropshire countryside, just outside of Bomere Heath, so we don't have far to go for lovely walks. However, this does mean that you will need to think about how you get Merrington Grange from home before applying. Being able to drive and having a car is preferable but we do welcome non-drivers as well. Most of us can do things for ourselves but some also need more help and prompts. We need support with personal care, to prepare and cook meals, to make sure we have enough to drink, to clean our bedrooms and bathrooms, to always have nice clean clothes to wear and help to clean the busy areas of our home. We like to have support in going out into the community which helps us to do the activities that we choose and like/want to do. We enjoy them more when we decide where we are going. Some of us need extra help with communication and use pictures or signs instead of words. Don't worry if you don't know how to sign, we will teach you. You'll hear a lot about person centred care, and we like that. It means we are the most important person, and our care is built around what we like, what we want to do, who we want to spend time with and where we like to go. We like being part of the community and that can mean going to the Makaton choir, parties and the celebration of success. We all have goals and aims and need to have a support team who will share the same vision and be active in their support and will give the right amount of support to ensure success. About you Although it would be beneficial to have some experience of healthcare work, it isn't absolutely necessary as we provide full training. As long as you're passionate, hard-working and empathetic, you'll fit right in. Join the team today and begin sharing moments and shaping lives.
