Job Description

Job Title - Housing Options Officer

Location - Bournemouth, Christchurch, and Poole

Contract - Temp 12 weeks

Hours - 37

Role summary - Join our clients Housing Options team committed to improving the lives of residents by preventing homelessness and providing person-centred support. If you are passionate about housing services and making a real difference in the community, this is a fantastic opportunity for you!

Key Responsibilities:

1. Provide specialist advice on housing options and homeless prevention initiatives.
2. Manage a caseload of housing applications, conducting legal assessments, and making key decisions on eligibility, housing need, and support.
3. Collaborate with multi-agency partners, leading case meetings for households with complex needs.
4. Act as the housing lead in cases involving domestic abuse, child protection, and adult safeguarding.
5. Promote initiatives to prevent homelessness by working with housing providers and stakeholders.
6. Maintain accurate records, produce reports, and provide evidence for legal cases when necessary.
7. Respond to emergency situations and participate in the Housing Options Duty Rota, delivering excellent customer service through various communication channels.

Requirements:

8. Level 4 Diploma in a related field or equivalent experience.
9. Significant experience providing customer service and professional advice in housing or a relevant sector.
10. Ability to work with vulnerable clients, including those affected by domestic abuse, mental health challenges, and substance misuse.
11. Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills, with the ability to handle conflict and challenging behaviours.
12. Knowledge of housing and homelessness legislation, as well as homelessness prevention techniques.
13. Enthusiasm for working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and a commitment to making a positive impact.
14. Flexibility to participate in a 24-hour call-out rota.
15. Ability to travel across the local area.
16. Enhanced DBS check.
