Buying Assistant for Electrical Accessories - 12 Parental Leave Cover

We’ve got an exciting opportunity to join our team as an Assistant Buyer. In this role, you’ll play a key part in shaping ranges, building supplier relationships, and ensuring our customers receive the products they love.

From spotting new suppliers and negotiating deals to reviewing customer insights and driving product innovation, you’ll be hands‑on across every stage of the buying process. You’ll also support promotions, events and supply‑chain activity, helping us deliver quality products on time in every channel.


Responsibilities

* Support my manager to manage supplier performance, identify potential new suppliers and build long‑term supplier relationships.
* Provide support to ensure the category has a long‑term, customer‑led plan that drives loyalty.
* Conduct regular store/website visits and review customer insight and trends to shape future product and range requirements.
* Help build and source customer/market insight‑led ranges and product innovation.
* Negotiate with suppliers with support from the manager, improving the trading position sustainably.
* Support delivery of the department’s trade, promotions/marketing and events plan, striving to exceed KPI forecasts and drive footfall.
* Support Tesco Business Services and Supply Chain, helping get products in all channels on time.
* Work with suppliers and the category quality team to ensure product quality is achieved and maintained.
* Load commercial income and ensure suppliers are invoiced correctly, managing over‑charges, under‑charges and aged debt on a weekly basis.
* Brief, develop and manage all artwork and point‑of‑sale material.
* Adhere to all Tesco policies, storage and handover protocols, and successfully complete all training.
* Manage GHS set up.

* Influencing and negotiation skills.
* Stakeholder management.
* Supplier management.
* Experience in buying and range management.
* Trade planning.
* Data analysis.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
* Clear presentation skills.
