Public Rights of Way Network Management & Enforcement Officer Are you passionate about the countryside and keen to play a crucial role in protecting and improving public access across Cheshire East? We’re looking for a motivated, confident and adaptable individual to join our Public Rights of Way team as a Network Management & Enforcement Officer. The position is for 1 FTE (37 hours) per week. About you In this exciting and varied role, you’ll help manage, maintain and safeguard our public rights of way network and wider countryside access routes. You’ll work directly with landowners, local communities and partner organisations to resolve issues, negotiate solutions and ensure that public access is protected. You’ll also be involved in responding to urgent reports, undertaking inspections, organising works and managing contractors, and supporting enforcement action where legal duties are not being met. You will use your communication, problem‑solving and organisational skills to deliver practical outcomes, whether you are out on site, reviewing historic evidence, preparing reports or providing specialist advice. The role is ideal for someone who enjoys a balance of office and outdoor work, has an interest in legislation and countryside access, and is confident working independently across a large and diverse geographical area. The role is diverse with no one day the same, for more information on the role please view the ‘in this job you will’ section within the attached job description document The successful candidate will have: Previous experience working in a similar field or within public rights of way; Strong interpersonal and effective communication skills; Experience using GIS packages and Countryside Access Management System (or similar); Good understanding of Public Rights of Way legislation; Flexible, adaptable approach to work.
