Shift Pattern: 4 on, 4 off (06:00 - 18:00)
Overview
Our client is seeking a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer to deliver effective engineering and maintenance support across a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
This role is critical in ensuring equipment reliability, minimising downtime, and maintaining operational performance against key business KPIs. You will be responsible for both reactive and planned maintenance, supporting continuous improvement initiatives, and ensuring full compliance with health, safety, and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
Respond promptly to electrical and mechanical breakdowns, diagnosing and resolving faults efficiently
Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) to ensure optimal equipment performance
Adhere strictly to all health and safety procedures, including Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) and Permit to Work systems
Promote and demonstrate a strong safety culture, supporting the wellbeing of engineering teams and contractors
Ensure full compliance with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), hygiene, and quality standards
Conduct routine servicing of production, ancillary, and associated equipment
Apply root cause analysis to identify recurring issues and drive continuous improvement
Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation
Support production teams to minimise downtime and improve operational efficiency
Assist in spare parts selection, stock control, and maintenance planning activities
Participate in capital projects and site improvement initiatives
Support facilities management activities where required
Mentor and support the development of other team members
Operate effectively in environments including cold storage and manual handling conditions
Key Accountabilities
Maintain high health and safety standards with a focus on zero lost time incidents
Achieve 100% completion of scheduled maintenance tasks
Ensure timely response and resolution of breakdowns
Escalate critical issues promptly to minimise operational impact
Skills & Experience
Essential
* Recognised electrical apprenticeship (minimum) with strong mechanical competence
* Minimum 5 years’ experience within a fast-paced manufacturing environment
* Strong fault-finding and problem-solving capability
* Good IT skills (Microsoft Excel and Word)
* Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
* Proactive, self-motivated, and adaptable approach
* Commitment to high standards, safety, and continuous improvement
Desirable
* Electrical HNC or equivalent
* Experience with PLCs and machine control systems
* Knowledge of weighing and filling equipment
* HACCP knowledge or formal training
* Experience within food manufacturing or FMCG environments
* Experience working in high-care environments
